Kaduna Police Recover Fake Guns, Counterfeit Cash in Ongoing Crackdown

The Kaduna State Police Command has been cracking down on crime in the region. In recent operations, they recovered nine fabricated firearms, one pump-action rifle, two stolen vehicles, and a large quantity of suspected counterfeit US currency.

The command's spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said that the operations were part of sustained efforts to deny criminals freedom of movement and ensure that farmers have access to their farmlands. On August 31, police received information about armed bandits disturbing farmers in Kidandan area of Giwa Local Government Area.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kidandan, mobilized personnel from the Police Mobile Force and the Kaduna Vigilance Service to the area. The bandits opened fire when they saw the security personnel, but were forced to flee into the surrounding bush.

In another operation, police operatives arrested three suspects at Panteka, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna, on September 2, over alleged possession of counterfeit US currency. One Kabir Yusuf was also arrested for allegedly possessing 20 pieces of suspected counterfeit $100 notes. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of 332 pieces of suspected counterfeit US dollar notes and six pieces of counterfeit N1,000 notes.

The command is still working to apprehend other suspects linked to the crimes and uncover the wider network behind the circulation of counterfeit currencies.
