Qatar Airways Boosts Australian Services with Expanded Routes and Codeshares
Qatar Airways has announced plans to expand its services in Australia starting from December 2026. The airline will double its Melbourne flights and restore its Canberra routes, providing more capacity for passengers heading to Doha and onward connections to Europe.
From December 9, 2026, Qatar Airways will increase its frequencies on the Sydney and Melbourne routes, while resuming its service to Canberra. Additionally, the airline will operate extra Virgin Australia codeshare flights, further boosting its presence in the region.
The expansion of Qatar Airways' services in Australia comes as TransNusa launches daily Melbourne-Bali flights in October 2026, with fares starting at AU$299 for basic one-way tickets and AU$699 for Premium Plus. Air New Zealand's SaleAway deal, which featured Economy tickets below AU$300 and Business Premier seats around AU$760, ended on September 18.
