UK Inflation Hits 3.1 Percent in August, Matches Forecasts

The UK's annual inflation rate rose to 3.1 percent in August from 2.9 percent in July, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics on September 16.

This increase of 0.5 percent from the previous month was in line with market forecasts and follows a 0.3 percent rise in July.

The annual core inflation rate, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, stood at 2.6 percent, matching expectations.
