UK Inflation Hits Five-Month High Amid Fuel Price Surge

Inflation in the UK has reached a five-month high of 3.1% in August, driven by rising fuel prices and airfares.

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) measure of inflation increased from 2.9% in July, and is now further away from the Bank of England's 2% target.

Economists warn that this trend will continue, with interest rates likely to increase in future months to combat rising prices.

The price of petrol rose by 9.1 pence per litre between July and August, while diesel increased by 14.2 pence per litre.
