Airbus and Boeing Win Worker Backing on New Contracts
Airbus and Boeing have received a significant boost as thousands of workers in Spain and the US have voted to accept new contract proposals, averting potential production woes for the manufacturers.
In Spain, Airbus workers voted overwhelmingly in favor of the new contract, with 76.76% of employees endorsing it. The deal includes wage increases, flexibility in holidays, and a return to 40% remote working. However, with 20.6% of workers voting against the deal, Airbus acknowledged that there is still work to be done to meet employees' expectations.
In the US, Boeing staff also accepted the latest contract proposal offered by the company. The Professional Unit approved the contract by 67.62%, while the Technical Unit approved it by 53.48%. The new contract includes a 10% guaranteed wage increase for all workers, improvements to working conditions, and increased flexibility.
