Akasa Air Pursues Massive Boeing Order Amid Capacity Goals
Mumbai-based Akasa Air is in talks to order over 200 Boeing 737 MAX jets as it aims to expand its share of India's growing air travel market and secure deliveries into the next decade, according to a report by Bloomberg. The airline already has unfilled orders for 183 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Akasa Air currently operates 43 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and has orders for additional planes scheduled for delivery over the next decade. With this new order, the carrier would be able to continue expanding its fleet beyond 2032.
The airline is targeting a 30% increase in capacity by March 2027 and is also considering participation in the government's emergency credit guarantee scheme, as mentioned by its chief financial officer in June.
