ALS Advocate Brooke Eby Dies at 37 After Inspiring Half a Million with Humor and Resilience
Brooke Eby, a former Salesforce manager who turned her experience with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) into a public diary followed by over half a million people, has died at 37.
Eby was born on December 22, 1988, in Potomac, Maryland. She grew up in a suburban household surrounded by family and developed an early taste for performing with appearances in several television commercials during her teens and a small role in the 2003 film Holes.
After graduating from Lehigh University in 2010, Eby built a career in business, taking on roles in cities including New York and San Francisco. She joined Salesforce as a business development manager in 2016, a position she held with remarkable determination through her diagnosis and subsequent progression of ALS.
In 2022, doctors confirmed Eby's diagnosis of ALS. Despite the challenges that followed, Eby continued to work at Salesforce, adjusting her setup as needed, and eventually moved from walking aids to a wheelchair before returning home for support.
Eby founded ALSTogether in 2023, a Slack-based network connecting people living with ALS and their caregivers. She became a sought-after speaker, took part in research studies, and worked alongside fellow patients to share her experiences. Her partnership with Silverts produced Brooke Eby x Silverts, an adaptive clothing line addressing the need for stylish options after diagnosis.
