Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes After Overshooting Miami Runway, Killing Five

An Amazon Air Boeing 767 cargo plane careened off the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others.

The plane, operated by 21 Air, was attempting to land on Runway 30 when it overshot the normal landing zone and continued across a grassy patch, through a chain-link fence with razor wire, and onto a four-lane road.

According to tracking data from Flightradar24, the plane was still traveling at nearly 130 miles per hour as it reached the end of the runway and struck several vehicles before coming to a stop just shy of a parking lot filled with dozens of cars.

The pilots did not inform air traffic controllers of any problems with the plane prior to landing, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
