Amazon Dumps $3 Billion into Indian Quick-Commerce Bet
Amazon is doubling down on its quick-commerce ambitions in India with a massive $3 billion investment over the next four years. The e-commerce giant aims to expand its Amazon Now network of small neighborhood warehouses, allowing it to deliver everyday products within minutes.
The company has already made significant strides, surpassing $1 billion in annualized gross sales over the past three months. To put this into perspective, India's quick-commerce market is expected to more than double to $41 billion by 2030 from $19 billion, according to Datum Intelligence.
Amazon entered the Indian market later than some established rivals, including Walmart-owned Flipkart. However, with a significant influx of capital and a focus on expanding its neighborhood warehouse network, Amazon Now is poised to gain ground in one of the world's fastest-growing delivery markets.
