Amazon Eero Mesh Routers Lead in Longevity

When it comes to mesh Wi-Fi systems, longevity can be just as important as performance. The end of official software support doesn't necessarily mean a device is outdated or obsolete. However, with rising prices and complex purchase decisions, understanding which brands offer the longest software support is crucial.

A recent analysis by a tech publication found that Amazon's eero mesh routers stand out for their exceptional longevity, with an average of 8-10 years of support. This is because eero starts its software support clock when you buy the router, not when it was first announced. In contrast, Google's Nest Wifi products offer five years of official software support, but this clock starts ticking on launch date.

Asus ZenWiFi mesh routers also show promise, with an average of 5-8 years of software support in real-world use. However, the company doesn't provide a unified timeframe for its products, leaving consumers to navigate varying levels of support. TP-Link Deco mesh routers offer only three years of official software support, but can be upgraded using Asus' AiMesh software.
