Google Messages Gets Swipe Gesture Overhaul

Google has rolled out new swipe gestures for its Messages app, making it easier to view timestamps and reply to messages.

Users can now swipe left anywhere inside a chat to reveal timestamps for all messages at once, along with the RCS encryption status. This replaces the previous method of tapping on each individual message bubble to check when it was sent.

The app has also changed how users reply to messages. Swiping right on a specific message bubble is now required to send a direct reply, whereas previously swiping left would suffice.

Additionally, Google Messages now allows long-pressing any message to open a quick menu with options such as replying, forwarding, copying, starring, deleting, and selecting more. This feature saves users from navigating to the top of the conversation to access these functions.
