Amazon Expands Northwest Louisiana Data Center Network to $18 Billion
Amazon is expanding its data center network in Northwest Louisiana, just months after Meta announced it would nearly double the size of its Hyperion campus nearby. The tech giant's new investment will bring the total project value to $18 billion, with three data centers spanning Caddo and Bossier parishes. The expansion includes a third facility not originally part of Amazon's $12 billion investment, which was announced in February.
Amazon has partnered with Stack Infrastructure to build the data centers, with Stack owning the facilities. The company expects to create 210 permanent direct jobs on top of the 540 previously announced. Construction jobs will increase from 1,500 to 2,250 due to the expansion.
To address concerns about water and power needs, Amazon has pledged to invest up to $400 million in improving public water infrastructure to support its three campuses. The company also promises to minimize its use of water to cool the data centers and fund all required water and wastewater improvements.
