Amazon Hikes Prices on Popular Devices Amid Component Cost Increases
Amazon has quietly raised prices on its Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and eero devices, citing rising costs of memory and storage components. The price hikes range from 25% to 60%, with some products seeing increases as high as 43%. This move mirrors a similar price increase by Roku last month.
The Echo Dot saw the largest price jump, increasing by $30 from its original price of $49.99 to $79.99. Other notable price hikes include the Fire TV Stick HD, which increased by $5 from $34.99 to $39.99, and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, which increased by $50 from $199.99 to $249.99.
A spokesperson for Amazon stated that the company aims to continue offering products at accessible prices, but acknowledged the need to adjust pricing due to rising component costs. This move may be a precursor to further price increases in the consumer electronics industry.
