Amazon Slashes Prices on Popular Devices, Increases Ranges Up to 60%
Amazon has quietly raised prices on its popular Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and eero devices without publicly announcing the changes. According to a review of Amazon's listings by Fortune, the increases range from 11% to 60%. The steepest increase hit the Echo Dot, which jumped from $49.99 to $79.99.
The price hike affects various models across all four product lines. For example, the base Kindle rose from $109.99 to $149.99, and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max climbed from $59.99 to $84.99. Amazon cited higher memory and storage component costs as the reason for the increases.
The company told Fortune that it adjusted pricing after absorbing these increased costs for as long as possible. Despite the price hikes, Amazon plans to continue running promotions across its device lineup, which may soften the blow for buyers.
