Amazon Stock Set for Skyrocketing Growth on AWS Momentum
Amazon's (AMZN) stock has seen significant growth in recent years, but one of its most profitable segments is often overlooked. According to Keithen Drury from The Motley Fool, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a major reason to buy the stock now.
AWS accounted for 21% of revenue in the second quarter and generated 60% of Amazon's operating income during that period. This is significantly higher than the company's other divisions, which had growth rates of 16% and 15% respectively.
The cloud computing segment is more profitable due to its higher margins compared to Amazon's commerce business. AWS' revenue increased by 37% in Q2, outpacing North American commerce sales and international sales. With a growing backlog of $496 billion and a high demand for computing power, AWS is poised for continued growth.
