Amazon Taps into India's Quick-Commerce Boom with $3 Billion Bet
Amazon is investing heavily in India's quick-commerce boom, pledging $3 billion by 2030 to expand its e-commerce business. This investment is part of a larger strategy to tap into India's growing market for instant deliveries, where companies like Walmart's Flipkart and Amazon itself are competing with domestic giants.
The $19 billion sector, which provides same-day or next-day delivery, is expected to more than double in size by 2030. According to Datum Intelligence, the sector will reach $41 billion by then. Amazon plans to invest $1 billion in this sector by the end of 2027 and another $2 billion by 2030.
The key focus of the investment will be on adding more small neighbourhood warehouses to its current Amazon Now service network, which delivers quickly. This will allow for faster delivery times and expansion into new markets. The company aims to have around 1,300 stores by April next year, up from around 750 currently.
