Amex Boosts Welcome Offer for Business Checking Account

The American Express Business Checking account has received an updated welcome offer of 35,000 Membership Rewards points. To qualify for this offer, new account holders must deposit $5,000 within 30 days and maintain that balance for 60 days. Additionally, they must complete five qualifying transactions, such as mobile deposits or electronic transfers.

The American Express Business Checking account also offers a 1.30% APY on up to $500K in balance and fee-free ATM access at any MoneyPass location in the US. For those with a Business Platinum card, there is an option to cash out up to 1 million Membership Rewards points per year at a rate of 1 cent each.

Amy, or Nick, notes that this offer is somewhat modest compared to previous welcome offers for Amex's Business Checking account, which have reached as high as 70,000 points. However, the free checking account allows for fee-free ATM access and redemption of Membership Rewards points at a rate of up to 1 cent per point for those with a Business Platinum card.
