Amex Extends Platinum Dining Credit to June 2029
American Express has extended its £400 annual dining credit for Platinum Cardholders through June 2029, offering holders more time to take advantage of the benefit. The credit, which helps offset the card’s £650 fee, is split between UK and international restaurants. Cardholders can now claim at least £1,000 more in credits over the next three years.
The dining credit provides £200 yearly for UK meals and £200 for overseas dining, each divided into two £100 halves per half-year. To access the credit, cardholders must register separately for UK and international offers and use the primary card for payments. Over 2,000 restaurants across 20 countries participate, including cities beyond capitals like Birmingham and Lyon.
Unused credit resets every January and July and does not roll over. Supplementary cardholders are ineligible for the benefit. The extension was made without a public announcement, appearing quietly on the company’s digital platforms. This move removes uncertainty for new applicants and rewards long-term holders with predictable value.
Travelers benefit from three additional years of guaranteed dining savings, reducing the effective cost of the card to £250 annually. However, missing the registration step forfeits the credit, and only primary cardholders qualify, requiring solo travelers to plan meals carefully to maximize value.
