Apple Expands Tap to Pay on iPhone to Eight New Countries
Apple has expanded its Tap to Pay on iPhone service to eight new countries in Latin America. The service, which was first announced last year, allows merchants to accept contactless payments using their compatible iPhones and supported payment apps. This eliminates the need for additional card readers or payment terminals.
The expansion includes Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Peru. In these countries, Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available through six different payment platforms: Mercado Pago in Argentina, SumUp and Symbiotic in Colombia, Geopagos and Symbiotic in Costa Rica, Azul and Visa Acceptance Solutions in the Dominican Republic, Geopagos and Symbiotic in Guatemala and Honduras, and Geopagos and Symbiotic in Panama.
Tap to Pay on iPhone is also compatible with contactless debit and credit cards from major payment networks, including American Express, Mastercard, and Visa. Apple has stated that it will continue to expand the service to more countries and regions in the future.
