Apple Unveils Foldable iPhone at Premium Price
Apple has finally unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, starting at $1,999. The company also raised the prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by $100 each, while delaying the release of a cheaper base model until next spring.
The market reaction to the announcement was muted, with Apple's shares finishing the day down about 0.3%.
Despite this, some analysts remain bullish on Apple's prospects. Evercore ISI, for example, believes that the Duo's new form factor will attract consumer interest and drive upgrades among users holding iPhones for three years or longer.
However, others are more cautious. Jefferies Financial, for instance, thinks that Apple's decision to launch a cheaper version of the Duo may hurt margins, as it prioritizes affordability over passing on higher component costs to consumers.
