Arsenal's Title Hopes Rocked by First Loss of Season
Arsenal's Mikel Arteta reflected on their first loss of the season after being defeated 3-0 by Brighton at the American Express Community Stadium.
The Gunners had been touted as likely champions after ending a 22-year wait for the title last season and began this campaign with seven consecutive wins in all competitions.
However, they were outplayed from the start, conceding two long-range goals to Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas before halftime. Chema Andres sealed the victory early in the second half with a header from a corner.
'Extremely disappointed,' Arteta said. 'I think we have to congratulate Brighton for the victory. I think they deserve it.'
The defeat serves as a timely reminder ahead of a three-week international break of how tough the season will be, according to Arteta.
