BA Amex 60k Bonus Ends as Earning Rates Plummet

UK travelers have just two days to take advantage of a rare opportunity. British Airways and American Express are offering a temporary welcome bonus of 60,000 Avios on the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card for new cardmembers who apply by October 6, 2026. This is double the usual 30,000-Avios welcome bonus.

To qualify, applicants must spend £6,000 during their first three months of card membership. The offer arrives just before British Airways cuts several of the card's most valuable earning rates from October 7.

The general earning rate will fall from 1.5 Avios to 1.25 Avios per eligible £1 spent, while the enhanced rate on British Airways and British Airways Holidays purchases will drop from three Avios to just 1.25 Avios per £1.

This change is significant because the Premium Plus Card has traditionally rewarded customers for spending directly with the airline.
