Beacon Pointe Advisors Puts $623M into Apple Amid Growing Services Business
Beacon Pointe Advisors LLC has invested in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) by purchasing 2,155,331 shares worth approximately $623,608,000 during the second quarter. This new position represents about 2.9% of Beacon Pointe's investment portfolio, making it its fifth-largest holding. The fund is not alone in buying Apple stock, as other large investors such as Prospect Hill Management LLC, Focus Partners Advisor Solutions LLC, Wealthfront Advisers LLC, Satovsky Asset Management LLC, and Saranac Partners Ltd have also made new investments in the company.
Apple's services business has been growing steadily, with its App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and iCloud contributing significantly to its revenue. The company's recent quarterly earnings report showed a 16.4% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter last year, beating analysts' estimates. Despite this positive trend, there are concerns about slower innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence, which may impact Apple's growth prospects.
The iPhone maker has also been affected by rising memory-chip costs, which could put pressure on its gross margins and near-term earnings growth. Additionally, the company faces legal and operational overhangs, including a $5.7 billion patent verdict and a revived UK consumer lawsuit involving Amazon marketplace sales. Despite these challenges, Apple remains one of the largest companies in the world, with a market capitalization of $4.81 trillion.
