Beloved Coach Marcus L. Cisco Leaves Lasting Legacy

Marcus L. Cisco was a beloved educator and coach who passed away on September 24, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born and raised in Morenci, Michigan, Cisco graduated from Morenci High School in 1954 as a four-sport athlete, earning 16 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track.

Cisco's athletic career continued at Michigan State University, where he was part of the Rose Bowl team before finishing his career at the University of Toledo. He began teaching at Britton Macon Schools before joining Jefferson High School in 1961, a position he held until 1986.

Athletics was a major passion for Cisco, with 47 years as head football coach and over 40 years as head track coach under his belt. His teams secured numerous conference, district, and regional championships, made nine playoff appearances, and even won a state title in 1994.
