Beloved Community Leader Stanley Gene Braxton Passes Away at 90

Stanley Gene Braxton, a devoted husband, father, and community leader, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 90. He was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to James E. and Eva (Matthews) Braxton. Stan proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career of over twenty years at IBM.

During his time at IBM, he held leadership positions including Project Manager and Systems Engineering Manager, earning him recognition as a dedicated 'corporate citizen'. In retirement, Stan continued to contribute to his community through various organizations such as Junior Achievement, Philadelphia Reads, and United Way's Teaming for Technology.

One of his most notable projects was building a computer lab from scratch at Calvary Episcopal Church in Germantown, where he tutored children. His dedication earned him IBM's Volunteer of the Month award and recognition by President George W. Bush in 2002.
