Benjamin L. Rainey Passes Away Due to Complications from Pneumonia
Benjamin L. Rainey, a devoted father and husband, passed away on September 18, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia.
Rainey was born on September 19, 1938, in Hot Springs, NC, to Benjamin W. and Pauline H. Rainey.
He spent his early years growing up in Greensboro, NC, where he attended Greensboro High School and Guilford College.
Rainey met the love of his life, Fern Laudenslager, while at Guilford College, and they were married for 59 years until her passing in 2020.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve after college and worked for J.P. Stevens before joining IBM as a programmer in 1970.
