Berkshire Hathaway Loads Up on AI Stocks
Berkshire Hathaway's investment portfolio has long been associated with traditional industries such as insurance and railroads. However, under new CEO Greg Abel, the conglomerate is embracing artificial intelligence (AI) with a significant stake in two top AI stocks: Apple and Alphabet.
The company's 30.6% share of its $350 billion portfolio is invested in these two companies, with Apple being Berkshire's largest single holding. However, Berkshire has been shedding Apple shares in recent years, reducing its holdings from 914.5 million to just under 228 million shares.
Warren Buffett, who led the company for 60 years, has expressed admiration for Apple's ecosystem and consumer loyalty. He described Apple as 'probably the best business I know in the world.'
Berkshire's stake in Alphabet is newer, with the company purchasing its first shares in the third quarter of 2025. It has since increased its holdings to 78.79 million Class A shares and 27.18 million Class C shares.
