MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is releasing her third novel, Last Days in Two Nations (A History in Eighteen Minds), on Substack. The book spans 80,000 words and 317 pages, with a release schedule shared by Scott on August 8, 2026.

The announcement comes as Bezos is selling $4.1 billion worth of Amazon shares, approximately 15 million in total. This sale follows Amazon's recent earnings, which pushed the company's market value above $3 trillion and caused the stock to skyrocket to a record high.

In an unusual move for someone with such significant wealth, Bezos has been open about predicting Amazon's potential demise, stating that he believes the company will eventually go bankrupt. He attributed this prediction to the lifespan of large companies, which typically ranges from 30 to over 100 years, and emphasized the importance of focusing on customers.
