Biman Leases Aircraft Ahead of New Boeing Deliveries
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is planning to expand its fleet by leasing 10 aircraft over the next two years. This move aims to strengthen operations ahead of new Boeing deliveries expected in the next decade.
The airline currently operates 19 aircraft and plans to increase this number to 29 by 2027 through the lease initiative. As part of this, Biman has floated a tender for three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on a six-year dry lease. The aircraft are expected to enter service by January 2027.
The government is overseeing the leasing process with an international consultant, who will ensure transparency and compliance with global standards. A report from State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat states that the government aims to maintain a transparent and internationally accepted leasing process through independent oversight.
