BioMarin Names Cara Bauer as Chief People Officer to Drive Growth
BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (Nasdaq: BMRN) has appointed Cara Bauer, Ph.D., as its new Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, effective October 5, 2026. Bauer brings over 25 years of human resources experience across the biotechnology and technology industries. She joins BioMarin from Kyverna Therapeutics, where she served as Chief Human Resources Officer since October 2024. Previously, she held HR leadership roles at Kite, a Gilead company, Riot Games, Netflix, Amgen, and Novo Nordisk.
Alexander Hardy, President and CEO of BioMarin, praised Bauer's extensive background, noting her ability to drive large-scale transformation and develop high-performing teams. 'Cara is an experienced business leader who brings a significant breadth of knowledge in human resources across multiple sectors,' Hardy said. Bauer expressed enthusiasm for joining BioMarin, highlighting her focus on growing teams and fostering a patient-centered culture.
Bauer succeeds Amy Wireman, who is retiring after more than a decade with BioMarin. Wireman, who joined in 2013 and became Chief People Officer in 2019, played a key role in expanding the organization and integrating Amicus Therapeutics following its acquisition earlier this year. She will remain in an advisory capacity to support the transition. Hardy thanked Wireman for her contributions, stating, 'Amy has been an extraordinary partner... providing strong leadership and counsel through key business and cultural milestones.'
