Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for Next-Gen Navy Fighter Jet
The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a $20 billion contract to develop its next-generation fighter jet, the F/A-XX Strike Fighter.
This decision marks a significant milestone for Boeing's defense business, which is already benefiting from other major contracts in recent months.
The F/A-XX will replace the Navy's current fighter workhorses, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers, over the next decade.
Boeing's leadership has previously dismissed concerns about its capacity to produce two simultaneous sixth-generation fighters, with CEO Steve Parker stating that delivering these advanced fighters in parallel was 'always our plan.'
