Canon Stock Surges on Amazon Toner Cartridge Removal Request

Canon's stock price rose following news that the company had asked Amazon to remove certain toner cartridge offers from its platform. The move, announced on September 17, 2026, cited U.S. Patent No. 12,242,222 infringement claims against three suppliers: RitoTech, KingKJ, and SKYPRINT USA.

The removal of these offerings gives Canon's shares a fresh angle, both legally and operationally. The company's latest reported quarter, which ended on August 4, 2026, showed sales of JPY 1,034.6 billion, operating profit of JPY 118.4 billion, and net income of JPY 86.4 billion.

On a year-over-year basis, quarterly revenue increased by 3.2 percent, while operating profit rose by 4.7 percent. This modest growth provides context for the Amazon dispute, which has added to the shares' attention.
