Caterpillar, one of North Texas' largest companies, reported record quarterly revenue in the second quarter of 2026. The company's sales and revenues reached $20.5 billion, a 24% increase from the same period last year.

The boost in sales came primarily from the power and energy division, where Caterpillar sold large engines and turbines used for data centers. This segment accounted for around $8.2 billion of the company's total revenue, a $1.2 billion increase from 2025.

Caterpillar is heavily involved in powering data centers and integrating them with the electric grid. The company has inked several multi-year agreements, including one with Hunt Energy to power data centers across North America. It also has projects in Utah, West Virginia, and a massive Microsoft data center in West Texas.
