Caterpillar Invests Billions in North Carolina Expansion
Caterpillar Inc., a major US manufacturing company, is leaving its roots in Illinois behind. The firm announced plans to invest approximately $1 billion in North Carolina, expanding its production capacity and building a new facility in Sanford.
The decision to choose North Carolina as the investment site was based on several factors, including the state's strong workforce and existing manufacturing expertise. Caterpillar has had a presence in the state for years, and this move allows them to build on that foundation.
Meanwhile, back in Illinois, the Department of Insurance returned $9.3 million to consumers through its service for lost or unclaimed life insurance policies and annuities. This is part of an ongoing effort by insurance companies to find beneficiaries of deceased policyholders when benefits remain unpaid.
