Chevron and Aker BP Announce Leadership Changes for 2027
Chevron and Aker BP are preparing for major leadership changes set to take effect on January 1, 2027. Chevron announced on October 5 that Eimear Bonner, currently the CFO, will transition to president of Oil, Products & Gas. Jeff Gustavson, the president of New Energies, will take over as CFO. Additionally, Brent Gros, currently president of Offshore, will move to lead New Energies and oversee the company’s AI strategy. Mark Nelson, vice chairman and EVP of Oil, Products & Gas, will retain his role but take on additional responsibilities for strategy and business development.
Aker BP revealed its new executive management team on October 2, structured around the value chain from exploration to production. CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik will lead the team, with Petter Sørhaug heading Find & Develop, Tommy Sigmundstad leading Build, Lars Høier in charge of Produce, Øystein Arvesen overseeing Optimise, and Knut Sandvik managing PDO Projects. David Tønne will continue as CFO. The current executive team will remain in place until the end of the year to design an operating model aimed at accelerating project development and reducing complexity.
Hersvik emphasized the need for change, stating, 'The shelf is changing, and tomorrow’s shelf requires something different from us than yesterday’s did.' The reshuffles at both companies reflect strategic realignments to better position them for future challenges and opportunities.
