A long-awaited Chevron gas station near Nacogdoches is finally under construction after years of inactivity. Mark Cunningham, a local resident and radio host, reported on his daily commute that he saw construction equipment and workers on-site for the first time this week.

The cleared land has been empty for at least five years, with only a paved driveway to show for it, according to Google Maps images. However, dirt work has now begun, and Cunningham noted that they have a long way to go before completion.

The new Chevron station will be located near the Junction Antique Mall and DPS weigh station on US-59, which is currently under construction to become I-69. While it's unclear what amenities the station will have or when it will open, Cunningham expressed his curiosity about whether it will beat the interstate road construction completion date.
