Chilean Banks Bolster Cyber Defenses with Microsoft Partnership

Chile's banking association has partnered with Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit to strengthen cybercrime defenses and improve the financial sector's ability to detect and respond to digital fraud. The Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of Chile (ABIF) signed a cybersecurity cooperation agreement with Microsoft, connecting its Cybersecurity Coordination Group (VTF) with Microsoft's DCU.

The partnership will provide access to specialized cyberthreat intelligence and expertise, allowing the two organizations to collaborate on knowledge sharing, training, and analysis of emerging threats. ABIF's VTF has analyzed over 8,500 threat intelligence reports in 2026 and coordinated responses to 243 active threats targeting Chile's financial sector.

Mexico's President of ABIF, José Manuel Mena, stated that digital threats are constantly evolving and require increasingly sophisticated capabilities and collaboration. He added that the agreement allows the banking sector to continue strengthening its work in reinforcing the financial ecosystem.
