China's commitment to buying 200 Boeing jets announced in May is moving forward, according to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The orders are a major deal for Boeing, marking its first significant Chinese contract in nearly a decade.

Greer said that about 140 of the jets are currently in good condition and another 10 are being written down as part of the order.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg has played down expectations of additional orders from China ahead of President Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping this week.

Ortberg described the initial 200-plane commitment as an 'initial tranche' of a potentially larger deal, but did not provide any specific numbers or details on when more orders might be announced.
