Coca-Cola's $10 Billion Investment: Less Than Meets the Eye
Coca-Cola's recent announcement of a $10 billion investment in U.S. infrastructure by 2030 has sparked attention, but a closer look at the company's spending plans reveals that this figure is not as large as it seems.
The company currently plans to invest $2.2 billion in capital expenditures this year, up slightly from last year's $2.1 billion. If it maintains this rate for the next five years, that would put total systemwide capex at around $40 billion over that period.
Most of this investment is already planned or at the bottler level, according to the company. The $10 billion U.S. infrastructure investment includes new or expanded production, distribution, and office facilities, with most projects previously announced.
