Cyprus and Chevron Double Down on Aphrodite Gas Field Development
The development of the 'Aphrodite' gas field is a top priority for Cyprus, with significant progress made in recent times. President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized this during his meeting with Chevron's Javier la Rosa, reiterating the importance of transitioning from planning to implementation.
The meeting between Christodoulides and la Rosa was held on September 22, 2026, in New York. They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to developing the field based on the approved Development and Production Plan. Discussions also covered the progress of technical and commercial operations, as well as the steps needed for a Final Investment Decision (FID).
The President underlined the need to maintain momentum and accelerate the timeline to reach FID and commence production as soon as possible.
