Disney Characters Get Ready for Guests at Reimagined Animation Studio
Disney's Hollywood Studios has unveiled its latest addition - an 'Open House' display inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios. The colorful banner, featuring various Disney characters, stretches across the landscaping beneath the Walt Disney Animation Studios sign.
Mickey Mouse is shown holding a clipboard, while the Mad Hatter balances his hat underneath Flounder, who has creatively used his fins to help with the project. On the other side of the display, Moana holds her oar with a can of paint attached as a mischievous Lost Boy adds a golden flourish to the banner.
The 'Open House' concept ties into the story Disney is creating for the reimagined space, where the animators have stepped away and the animated characters have taken over, inviting guests inside to explore. This idea fits perfectly with the surrounding courtyard's theme, which takes inspiration from the actual Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank.
The Magic of Disney Animation, set to open on September 14, 2026, will feature new experiences, including Drawn to Wonderland, Off the Page!, Olaf Draws!, and the Once Upon a Studio Theater. The building behind the display is inspired by the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in California, complete with the return of a giant Sorcerer Mickey hat.
