Disney Clarifies No Commercials on Disney Plus Despite User Agreement Update

The Walt Disney Company has made it clear that it will not be showing traditional commercial advertising on its Disney Plus app, despite a recent change to its terms of service.

The updated user agreements in certain European countries seemed to suggest that Disney was giving itself permission to include promotional content and advertisements before or after playback of content.

However, sources close to the company confirm that this change is intended to give Disney more flexibility to promote its own movies, TV shows, and live events, not traditional commercial spots.

This move mirrors what other streaming services like Paramount Plus do with their platforms, which stream promotional spots for their own content before content streams on their ad-free tiers.
