Disney Gives Rare Glimpse into Animal Care Operations

Walt Disney World is giving its guests a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work of caring for animals across its parks. The company's Animals, Science and Environment team hosted a two-day media event to showcase their efforts in animal care, veterinary medicine, and conservation.

The event highlighted elephants and gorillas, with members of Disney's animal care team offering a closer look at their work. On Monday, the new silverback gorilla Bakari was introduced to the troop at Animal Kingdom, and experts discussed what his arrival could mean for the future of the gorilla family.

Dr. Scott Terrell, the new vice president of Disney's Animals, Science and Environment team, participated in a panel discussion with several other animal experts. The panel focused on animal care, conservation, veterinary medicine, and other work happening behind the scenes at Walt Disney World.
