Disney Imagineer Reveals Bigfoot Was Almost the Star of Expedition Everest

Former Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde revealed that initial plans for the Expedition Everest roller coaster at Animal Kingdom were actually intended to feature Bigfoot as its theme, instead of the Yeti.

Rohde explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he and his team first considered placing a large-scale roller coaster in the Camp Minnie-Mickey area, but ultimately decided against it due to space constraints and logistical issues.

The concept for Bigfoot was scrapped in favor of a Yeti-themed ride, which would eventually become Expedition Everest when it opened in 2006.
