Disney Shoots Down Epic Games Acquisition Rumors
Disney has denied rumors of an Epic Games acquisition, stating that the two companies are focused on their existing partnership rather than any potential deal. According to Dana Walden, President and Chief Creative Officer at Disney, there are no talks about acquiring Epic Games.
The two companies have been working together since 2024, when Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games and acquired approximately 9% of the company's shares. The partnership is centered around creating an entertainment universe related to Fortnite, with multiple releases planned for the next two years.
Walden emphasized that Disney is committed to its existing collaboration with Epic Games, citing the success of their joint projects so far. She also noted that there have been discussions about investments and Disney's stake in Epic Games, but no negotiations for a full acquisition are underway.
