Disney World Unveils Festive Muppets Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Christmas Overlay

Walt Disney World has announced a festive transformation for the Muppets Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, debuting a special Christmas overlay in 2026. From November 4, 2026, through January 6, 2027, the ride will feature a holiday-themed experience called Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay. This limited-time attraction promises a seasonal twist, complete with new music and festive decorations, all while maintaining the thrilling 0 to 57 MPH launch and intense ride experience.

The holiday edition will introduce four new Christmas-inspired tracks performed by The Electric Mayhem Band, including collaborations with special guests. The setlist features Holiday Road with Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) with Jennifer Hudson, Silver Bells with Cyndi Lauper, and Little Saint Nick. The ride’s pre-show will also be updated, with new interactions featuring familiar Muppets characters like Rizzo the Rat and Gonzo the Great as Charles Dickens.

While the ride’s physical elements, such as the coaster track and layout, will remain unchanged, the overlay will include new Audio-Animatronics figures like Scooter, brought to life using motion-capture technology. The queue and load areas may also receive holiday-themed enhancements, though details on these changes are still emerging.

The Christmas season at Walt Disney World officially runs from November 13, 2026, through January 6, 2027, but some attractions, like the Jollywood Nights Christmas Party at Hollywood Studios, will start earlier. Fans of The Muppet Christmas Carol may be disappointed by the lack of direct references in the overlay, though there is hope for subtle nods in the queue or gift shop.
