DLSS 5 Gains Momentum as Nvidia Clarifies Support for Older GPUs
Nvidia's DLSS 5 has been generating excitement among PC gamers since its official launch at Gamescom 2026. Initially, some were skeptical about the tech, but recent developments have changed opinions.
One reason for the optimism is Nvidia's clarification on support for older GeForce GPUs. Although DLSS 5 currently only works with RTX 5000 graphics cards, the company has confirmed that it will be expanded to include the RTX 40 and 50 Series models by early 2027.
Modders have already successfully implemented DLSS 5 on RTX 3000 and 2000 models, albeit with varying performance levels. This shows that Nvidia's tech can work on a wider range of hardware than initially thought.
The performance hit associated with DLSS 5 is currently significant, but Nvidia has stated that optimization will be a priority in the coming months. As more games are supported and the tech is fine-tuned, the impact on frame rates should decrease.
