EgyptAir Welcomes First Boeing 737 MAX 8 Aircraft
EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, marking the introduction of the plane to the airline's fleet. The aircraft is part of a larger order for 18 units leased from SMBC Aviation Capital, and will operate on short- and medium-haul routes.
The addition is part of EgyptAir's ongoing fleet renewal program, which aims to improve operational performance and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. According to Ahmed Adel, chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, the 737 MAX supports the airline's efforts to update its fleet and achieve these goals.
The 737-8 features a Boeing Sky Interior, including LED lighting, redesigned overhead bins, and updated cabin elements. This is the first time EgyptAir has operated an aircraft from the 737 family since 1975, but it will join existing fleets of Next-Generation 737s and Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
