Emirates' First Boeing 777X Rolls Out of Production

Emirates' first Boeing 777X aircraft has emerged from production in Everett, Washington. The aircraft is intended for long-term operations at Dubai International Airport and will become an important part of Emirates' future widebody fleet.

The airline ordered a total of 270 Boeing 777X aircraft, making it the largest customer for the program. After a series of delays, Boeing now expects the first 777-9 delivery in 2027, roughly seven years behind its original target.

Emirates plans to use the 777-9 as part of its long-term widebody fleet strategy from Dubai, providing additional high-capacity capability and helping the airline replace older-generation aircraft. The 777-9 has a typical two-class capacity of 375 to 450 passengers and a range of up to 8,000 nautical miles.

Emirates decided not to accept approximately the first 10 early-build 777-9 aircraft due to concerns about their age and modification requirements. The airline expects its first new-generation aircraft in May or June 2027, pending Boeing's completion of the certification process and U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approval.
