Ethiopian Airlines has ordered eight Boeing 777-8F and two 777F freighters from Boeing. This deal makes Ethiopian Airlines the first African carrier to buy the new generation 777-8F, which is intended to support its growing global network and advance its international freight operations.

According to Mesfin Tasew, group chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines, this agreement is another significant milestone in strengthening the carrier's cargo capabilities. He stated that the addition of these aircraft will improve their ability to serve customers worldwide through greater payload capacity, operational flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability.

The new 777-8F has a maximum structural payload of 118 tonnes, while the 777F has a maximum structural payload of 107 tonnes. Ethiopian Airlines' existing freighter fleet consists of 12 777Fs, two 767Fs, and four 737-800SFs. The order highlights both the strength of the partnership between Ethiopian Airlines and Boeing and growing demand for air cargo worldwide.
